Ghana Officials Study Nigeria’s Oil and Gas Local Content Blueprint
Several African countries are examining Nigeria’s local content framework to boost indigenous participation in the petroleum industry. A delegation from Ghana’s national oil company visited the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board in Bayelsa to gain insights into policy design and capacity building. NCDMB leaders outlined their 10-year strategic roadmap, covering technical training, compliance enforcement, business environment reforms and funding support through low-interest intervention loans. They also highlighted the First Consideration policy that gives qualified Nigerian firms priority in contracts. Ghanaian delegates praised the open exchange and said they hope to strengthen their own local content structures. NCDMB has similarly partnered with agencies in Senegal, Mozambique, Angola and Namibia to foster regional skills development and industrial growth.
