Governor Abiodun Hails Ojude Oba Festival as Cornerstone of Ogun’s Tourism Drive
The ancient town of Ijebu-Ode buzzed with colour and tradition as thousands gathered for the 2026 Ojude Oba Festival. The event showcased horse-riding processions, traditional music and performances by the Regberegbe age groups. Governor Dapo Abiodun described Ojude Oba as a symbol of unity and harmony. He said the state government has made the festival a flagship of its tourism development agenda, boosting hotels, artisans, transport operators and local businesses. This year’s edition marked the first celebration since the passing of the late Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Adetona. Abiodun paid tribute to the transformative 65-year reign of the traditional ruler and thanked the President for his support during the transition. The governor urged younger generations to preserve this heritage and pledged further collaboration with stakeholders to expand the festival’s global reach and economic impact.
