US Intelligence Warns Russia Could Test NATO With Limited Attack
US intelligence officials reportedly believe Russia could test NATO’s resolve with a limited operation in the coming months or years, rather than launch a full-scale war. Possible scenarios include cyberattacks, drone incursions, sabotage of critical infrastructure, the use of armed groups to seize territory, or a small military incursion along NATO’s eastern border. Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland are seen as possible targets. Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda said his government has received information about possible threats to critical infrastructure. NATO says it is preparing to deter and defend against any attack, noting that Article 5 treats an attack on one member as an attack on all members. The assessment comes amid concerns about Russia’s military intentions, NATO’s readiness and weapons supplies after years of support for Ukraine.
