AE-FUNAI Professor Highlights Ultrasound’s Role in Safer Maternal Care
Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu-Alike, Ebonyi State, held its eighth inaugural lecture, where Professor Paul Olisaemeka Ezeonu examined ultrasound’s role in maternal and reproductive healthcare. In his lecture, “Ultrasound as Whispers of Life: From Conception to Birth,” Ezeonu traced the technology’s scientific development and its use in obstetrics, gynaecology, cardiology, radiology and emergency medicine. He stressed that early and accurate imaging can support safer care for mothers and babies. The professor urged healthcare workers to use ultrasound competently, ethically and compassionately. He also called for more equitable access to the technology, especially for women in rural and low-income communities.
