Expert Slams Yamal’s Celebration Snub, Draws Ronaldo Comparison

Expert Slams Yamal’s Celebration Snub, Draws Ronaldo Comparison — 1 of 3
1 / 3

Spanish analyst Paco González has criticised Barcelona teen Lamine Yamal for refusing to celebrate Robert Lewandowski’s late winner against Atlético Madrid. The 16-year-old appeared angry instead of joining his teammates. González called the reaction “ugly and horrible” and warned against turning football into an individual sport. The frustration reportedly followed criticism from the bench over Yamal’s ineffective actions. Barcelona manager Hansi Flick defended the youngster after the match. He said Yamal was emotional and needed protection. The analyst also compared Yamal’s response to Cristiano Ronaldo’s famous snub during Real Madrid’s 2014 Champions League final. Ronaldo initially stayed isolated when Sergio Ramos equalised, mirroring this week’s incident.

Do you think fans see his no-celebration as disrespect or just personal preference?

I see your point. Perhaps Yamal's cold reception actually boosts his mystique, making teammates admire his discipline.

It's surprising that a teenager would show visible anger instead of joining the celebration after such an important goal.

I'm not convinced his reaction is entirely unfair; maybe he was frustrated with his own performance rather than disrespecting Lewandowski.

Make sure say the coach talk to Yamal privately after matches to handle any frustration and maintain team spirit.
