SERAP Gives Akpabio and Abbas Seven Days to Probe ₦6.3bn Constituency Funds Diversion
The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project has urged the Senate President and Speaker of the House to investigate the alleged diversion of over ₦6.3bn in constituency project funds. In a letter dated June 27, the group called for the Auditor-General’s 2022 report findings to be referred to anti-corruption agencies. It demands recovery of any misapplied funds and disclosure of contractors, shareholders and beneficial owners linked to paid-but-unexecuted projects. SERAP warned that failure to act within seven days would force it to seek legal remedies. It stressed that transparency in public fund management is vital to restore confidence in government institutions.
