Martin O’Neill Explains Iheanacho’s Move to Bursaspor

Celtic boss Martin O’Neill has opened up on why Kelechi Iheanacho chose a switch to Turkish side Bursaspor. Iheanacho impressed last season at Celtic despite injury setbacks. When the club’s one-year extension expired, the Hoops couldn’t match the striker’s reported £50,000-a-week wage demands. O’Neill admits he thought a deal was in place but says Iheanacho opted for a new challenge. “He did terrifically well for us, but in the end he decided to go elsewhere,” he explained.

Makes sense. A fresh setting and guaranteed first-team action could really boost his development.

I get the frustration about his wages, but clubs consider more than pay, e reach decision coming from all sides.

Will moving to Bursaspor really boost his career, or might he lose valuable exposure in more competitive leagues?

He should focus on consistent performance in Turkey to attract future chances from larger European clubs.
