Our Biggest Business Mistake: Why Igbos Must Partner with Government

Our Biggest Business Mistake: Why Igbos Must Partner with Government

For years I believed that Igbos succeed in business without government help. I even repeated that we don’t need any support. That idea turned out to be pure ignorance. Reading the Bible opened my eyes. Abraham only grew wealthy through royal favour. Isaac prospered with a government pact. Joseph and Daniel rose to power under foreign rulers. All these examples show that real wealth often flows through government channels. Today the richest people leverage contracts, subsidies and privileges. Elon Musk benefits from large-scale contracts and tax breaks. Dangote thrives on monopolies and government partnerships. Yet many Igbo entrepreneurs avoid these paths. We must change this mindset. Embrace government access and stock markets. Combine hard work with smart partnerships. That is how we can build true, lasting wealth.
