NDC Chairman Dickson: Party Doesn’t Owe Any Favour to Peter Obi

Seriake Dickson, national leader of the NDC, said no one does the party a favour by seeking its presidential ticket. Speaking on Arise TV, he rejected claims that the party owes gratitude to Peter Obi or any other figure. Dickson urged Obi’s supporters to stop disparaging the party or its leaders, warning that such attacks undermine the platform supporting their candidate. He stressed that the NDC adopted Obi without internal disputes or payments, proving its integrity. The former Bayelsa governor also revealed he stepped aside from the presidential race despite being qualified, to allow Obi’s candidacy to go unchallenged.

It's interesting how Dickson frames party membership as a right rather than a favour, even when high-profile candidates apply.

I get the point about no favours, but does that dismiss the value of political endorsements altogether?
