Nigerians Pad Amupitan’s Bank Accounts with ₦1 Transfers to Demand His Resignation
When Nigerians tried the “forgot password” route on X, they used the email and phone in Professor Amupitan’s public CV. X’s recovery prompts confirmed those details matched his account. They then tested the phone number with Opay and GTBank. Both platforms showed the BVN-linked name “Joash Ojo Amupitan.” Truecaller also listed “Joash Ojo Amupitan (Prof),” creating a strong data convergence. After emailing his university address and calling his number with demands to resign, they switched tactics. With the line switched off, people began sending ₦1 or ₦10 transfers to his Opay and GTBank accounts, using the remarks field to tell him to step down. His balances are surprisingly growing as public outrage mounts. At this point, I believe he should acknowledge his past support for Tinubu and affirm his commitment to impartiality as INEC chairman. Anything less looks like hiding in plain sight.
