Pay Contractors Now: The Key to Nigeria’s Economic Recovery

Mr. President, I write to highlight the urgent need to release billions owed to contractors. Withheld funds mean unpaid salaries, job losses, loan defaults and abandoned projects. Timely payments would circulate money, sustain businesses and ease the burden on millions of households. Awarding contracts without a plan to pay is reckless and weakens the private sector we need to drive growth. If your goal is to reduce hardship, the solution is simple: honour existing obligations. When these funds move, they fuel wages, markets and communities. This is basic economic responsibility, not politics.
