APC Ticket Swap in Alimosho: How Hon. Ayuba’s Primary Win Was Overturned

APC Ticket Swap in Alimosho: How Hon. Ayuba’s Primary Win Was Overturned — 1 of 4
1 / 4

Hon. Ganiyu Adele Ayuba (Mayor KK) was chosen by consensus and secured over 37,000 votes in the APC primary for Alimosho Federal Constituency. Yet his name was removed and replaced with Hon. Adebajo (Abisco), who neither won the direct primary nor emerged by consensus. The 2026 Electoral Act’s Section 84(2) mandates that party candidates must be selected by either consensus or direct primaries. How did this clear provision fail to protect the mandate of party members in Alimosho? Who authorised the substitution and on what grounds? This incident has left grassroots supporters frustrated and worried about the integrity of internal party democracy. Until the APC national leadership provides a transparent explanation, trust in the nomination process—and the spirit of the Electoral Act—will remain in doubt.

What do you think motivated the APC leadership to replace Mayor KK's nomination with Adebajo, despite Adele Ayuba's clear primary win?

Ah, you got a point! Feels like APC big wigs chosed Adebajo for their own reasons, not primary rules.

It's odd how a candidate with 37,000 votes was sidelined for someone who didn't even contest the direct primary.

Maybe there's more to that consensus process than meets the eye, but replacing a clear winner still feels unfair to party supporters.

Party members should demand transparent documentation of the primary process to prevent arbitrary swaps and rebuild trust ahead of 2026 elections.
