Wike Vows 2027 Elections Won’t Stall FCT Road Projects
The FCT Minister, Barr. Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, assured that ongoing infrastructure works in Abuja will push on despite upcoming elections. During an April inspection of the Federal Highway 105 upgrade and the Kuje–Gwagwalada dualization, he said contractors remain focused on delivery, not politics. He confirmed that over 80% of planned works should be complete before January and that the Kuje projects are due for handover by May. Wike noted that the 2025 budget has been extended to June while the 2026 budget awaits National Assembly approval. Responding to Atiku Abubakar’s criticisms, the Minister dismissed them as baseless attempts to distract from visible progress. He also challenged the ADC to produce proof of alleged interference in their convention plans.
