Texas Woman Arrested in Mexico Nearly 30 Years After Toddler’s Death
A Texas woman accused of killing her three-year-old daughter in 1996 has been arrested in Mexico after nearly three decades on the run, authorities said. Maria Narez, now 48, was indicted after her daughter, Kasandra White, died following an alleged assault at their Fort Worth home. Investigators alleged that Narez shook, beat and threw the child against a wall after the toddler refused to go to bed. Narez was 19 when the incident occurred. She was released on bond but allegedly fled after it was reduced to $25,000. She is expected to be extradited to Tarrant County, Texas, to face a capital murder charge.
