Naval Chief Challenges Warfare Course Participants to Strengthen Maritime Security
Vice Admiral Idi Abbas addressed the Naval Warfare Course 10 at the Naval War College in Calabar. He urged participants to embrace reciprocity and help tackle Nigeria’s evolving security challenges. Abbas explained that his vision aligns with the Nigerian Navy Strategic Plan 2021–2030. He stressed the need for a modern, agile, and professional force to safeguard maritime interests and support national security goals. Highlighting recent successes, he cited Operation DELTA SENTINEL, zero piracy incidents, higher oil output, and major crude seizures. He committed to boosting operational capability, personnel welfare, and interagency as well as international cooperation. The CNS pledged to finish key infrastructure projects, including the permanent War College site, a naval hotel, and schools for nursing and leadership. Rear Admiral Mohammed Nuye encouraged the 34 participants, including four from Cameroon, Ghana, and Liberia, to apply their training in their respective roles.
