Supreme Court to Hear David Mark’s Appeal in ADC Leadership Dispute
Senator David Mark will appear before the Supreme Court on April 14 to seek a stay of the March 12 Court of Appeal judgment that challenged his role as national chairman of the African Democratic Congress. Mark filed appeal SC/CV/180/2026 against Hon. Nafiu-Bala Gombe and others, praying the apex court to restrain INEC from recognizing any officers other than the sitting ADC executives pending his case. He also asked the Federal High Court matter before Justice Emeka Nwite to be stayed until the Supreme Court rules. The hearing date coincides with a scheduled Federal High Court session, but sources say that court may adjourn in deference to the supreme jurisdiction. Mark’s lawyers argue that enforcement of the appellate judgment would render his appeal moot and urge the court to preserve the status quo.
