Nigeria’s Democracy: Theory vs Reality
I feel pained but we must face the truth: Nigeria practices only theoretical democracy. Our elites travel in convoys that trample ordinary lives, while unpaid civil servants and destitute pensioners wait in vain for their dues. Judges rule in favor of the highest bidder and security forces brutalize citizens instead of protecting them. The powerful receive swift justice while the average person is forgotten. Many go hungry, remain unemployed, and live in fear of violence. Even religious leaders hesitate to challenge the corrupt political class that cares only about power. Democracy is dead in Nigeria until we fix ourselves and this broken system.
