MLS Launches Tampering Probe Against Inter Miami Over Casemiro Deal

MLS Launches Tampering Probe Against Inter Miami Over Casemiro Deal — 1 of 2
1 / 2

Major League Soccer has launched a tampering probe into Inter Miami over its reported deal for Casemiro. The league is investigating how Miami acquired discovery rights from LA Galaxy to sign the Brazil international. Inter Miami confirmed Casemiro’s signing until next season, with an option to extend to 2029. Miami says it paid about £750,000 to secure discovery priority from Galaxy. MLS says it is gathering information and will release the settlement terms once the probe concludes. The league already fined Miami £1.5m in 2021 for salary reporting breaches and suspended a top executive for one year. Casemiro joined as a free agent after four years at Manchester United, where he also starred for Brazil in the recent World Cup.

How do you think MLS might resolve this tampering probe into Inter Miami's Casemiro deal without hurting the league's reputation?

Totally agree. If MLS sets clear procedures, applies penalties fairly, and communicates openly, they'll preserve credibility.

It's interesting that discovery rights from LA Galaxy are under scrutiny even though Miami's announcement seemed by the book.

I'm not convinced this probe will change much; tampering investigations rarely lead to serious penalties or impacted signings.

Teams should ensure clear communication on discovery rights transfers to avoid similar league investigations in future transfer windows.
