ADC Lawmakers Demand Removal of INEC Chairman to Avert ‘Two Presidents’ Crisis

ADC Lawmakers Demand Removal of INEC Chairman to Avert ‘Two Presidents’ Crisis

Lawmakers from the African Democratic Congress have urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to sack INEC Chairman Joash Amupitan. They argue that failure to act could plunge the country into a situation with two rival presidents. The appeal was led by Hon. Mukhtar Zakari of Tarauni Federal Constituency in Kano State. He warned that perceived irregularities at the electoral commission threaten Nigeria’s unity and could spark a severe constitutional crisis.

You're right, it seems like a stopgap measure that won't address deeper political divisions.

True, swapping the chairman alone won't end the crisis, e go just scatter tension for another corner.

Lawmakers are painting this as a looming crisis, but is the threat of two rival presidents really that imminent based on current evidence?

I'm not convinced sacking the INEC chairman solves anything; this just looks like political scapegoating rather than addressing core election management issues.

Before any drastic move, make we ensure all legal steps and evidence base are solid to avoid unnecessary political fallout.
