Aisha Yesufu Alleges $50,000 Bribes in INEC’s Ouster of ADC Leadership

Aisha Yesufu Alleges $50,000 Bribes in INEC’s Ouster of ADC Leadership

On a recent live interview on a national TV news programme, activist Aisha Yesufu claimed that some INEC officials were bribed with up to $50,000 and parcels of land to remove the African Democratic Congress leadership. She alleged that the INEC chairman was threatened into stripping former Senate President David Mark of his position as ADC national chairman. Yesufu also questioned the absence of anti‐corruption agencies despite widespread reports of collusion and coercion. The co‐convener of the #BringBackOurGirls movement warned that weaponizing independent institutions and the judiciary against opposition parties threatens Nigeria’s hard‐won democracy.

What evidence would we need to confirm whether INEC officials really took fifty thousand dollars and land to remove ADC leaders?

Can you suggest which official records or verifiable statements could confirm claims of cash and land exchanges?

Hold on, isn't it better we see official statements or transaction records before we suspect bribes?

Claiming the INEC chairman was threatened into submission sounds serious, but it's odd there aren't any independent witnesses or documents cited in that interview.

Maybe the ADC leadership had internal conflicts that encouraged sensational claims instead of focusing on party unity.

Someone should formally file a Freedom of Information request or petition INEC for transaction records to clarify those alleged bribes.
