Ex-Boko Haram Fighters Allegedly Receive ₦3 Million Payout and Monthly Salary After Rehab
Enoch Yohanna, a Borno State indigene, claims that repentant Boko Haram members get a ₦3 million one-time payout and a monthly salary once they complete government rehabilitation programmes. He says participants are sorted by the severity of their past involvement before reintegration. Yohanna alleges some rehabilitated fighters join civilian Joint Task Forces, carry arms under state supervision, or are sent abroad for illegal gold mining with their allowances funded by state governments. He adds that those needing medical care are treated at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital. He expressed outrage that individuals who killed dozens now enjoy luxury perks at taxpayers’ expense. He vows to resist what he calls an injustice against victims’ families.
