Kingsley Chinda Clinches APC Ticket for 2027 Rivers Governorship
Ogundu Kingsley Chinda has been confirmed as the APC’s sole candidate for the 2027 Rivers State governorship election after three aspirants withdrew. Siminalayi Fubara, former candidate Tonye Cole and Alabo Dakorinama George-Kelly stepped down on May 20, clearing the way for Chinda to secure 268,497 votes in the party primary. Kwamoti Bitrus, chairman of the APC State Governorship Primary Committee, praised the massive participation of members and the commitment of party agents. He also commended the state leadership for creating a conducive environment for the exercise. Chinda, who serves as Minority Leader in the 10th House of Representatives representing Obio/Akpor Federal Constituency, was first elected under the PDP. The APC’s publicity secretary said his emergence signals a renewed focus on unity and development in Rivers State ahead of the 2027 election.
