Why the Next Northern President Should Be Yoruba
The debate over political zoning is heating up. When the North produces the next Nigerian president, the candidate should come from the Yoruba community to ensure fairness and balance. The Igbo have five states and one turn in the presidency so far, while the Yoruba account for six states and nearly sixty million people but have never led the region. If you don’t demand what is rightfully yours, it can slip away. In the old Northern region, Yorubas built thriving cities like Ilorin, Offa, and Jebba yet remain overlooked since independence. The Hausa-Fulani population in the North is not five times larger than the Yoruba, so they should not occupy the presidency five times while Yorubas have held it zero. With national attention on zoning, all fair-minded Nigerians should support a Northern president of Yoruba extraction—male or female. The Southwest alone contributes forty percent of the nation’s taxes, and Yorubas across the federation deserve their opportunity at the highest office.
