Akure Court Remands 34-Year-Old Togolese Over Alleged Defilement of 13-Year-Old
A Magistrates’ Court in Akure has ordered the remand of a 34-year-old Togolese farm labourer at Olokuta Correctional Centre for allegedly defiling a 13-year-old girl. The prosecutor told the court the incident occurred on April 25 at the Nigerian Army district in Owena Barracks, Akure. He said the case relies on the victim’s statement and a medical report from the Brigade Medical Centre. The defence counsel denied any knowledge of the girl and asked for a transfer to the family court. The matter was adjourned until August 4, 2026, pending advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions.
