Men’s Mental Health Month 2026 – More Good Days, Together
Every June is Men’s Mental Health Awareness Month, and the 2026 theme is “More Good Days, Together.” Worldwide, men die by suicide at higher rates than women, often because they’ve been taught that asking for help is a sign of weakness. From boyhood we hear “men don’t cry,” “be strong,” and “handle problems yourself.” These messages can turn into beliefs that force men to hide depression, anxiety, financial stress, relationship issues or loneliness rather than seek support. Real strength is recognising when you need help and having the courage to ask for it. Whether it’s opening up to friends, talking with family or seeing a professional, one honest conversation can save a life. What can families, workplaces and communities in Nigeria do to encourage men to speak up? Do you think society is doing enough to support men’s mental health?
