Ambassador Ikebunwa Lotanna Receives Honorary Doctorate in Real Estate Management

Ambassador Ikebunwa Lotanna was awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Real Estate Management and Corporate Governance by the European-American University in France. The ceremony took place at the Ibis Hotel in Ikeja, Lagos, and drew dignitaries, business leaders, and well-wishers from across Nigeria. His rise began as a realtor with PWAN, and by 2025 he became Nigeria’s best-selling agent, closing over ₦1.5 billion in property sales within a single year. He then founded Palms Realty and Investment Limited, which has grown into a leading real estate firm. In 2025 he also won the Nnewi Heroes Award as Real Estate Icon of the Year. Beyond business, he lectures on corporate governance and leads philanthropic initiatives. He recently donated to the Nnewi Academic Congress and supported vulnerable families with food and financial aid during the festive season. This honorary doctorate celebrates his blend of entrepreneurial success, service-driven leadership, and commitment to societal progress.

I saw Ambassador Ikebunwa receiving that honorary doctorate in real estate management. How do you think this recognition will impact local property development?

I doubt a ceremonial degree alone shifts property market dynamics significantly. Real development needs policy, funding, and expertise, not just titles.

It is interesting that a French university chose a Nigerian diplomat for real estate governance recognition, but such honors often have diplomatic undertones.

Maybe the university and local developers can partner on workshops or mentorship programs to translate that governance expertise into tangible projects.
