El-Rufai Discusses ADC Convention Plans During Kaduna Court Appearance

Former Kaduna State Governor Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai appeared at the Kaduna State High Court on Monday as his trial resumes before the ICPC. He and co-defendant Amadu Sule face multiple charges, including abuse of office, fraud and conferring undue advantage. Just before entering the courtroom, El-Rufai was heard asking a close associate about tomorrow’s African Democratic Congress convention, signaling his ongoing involvement in party affairs despite legal challenges. Separately, El-Rufai faces a 10-count charge in the Federal High Court in Kaduna over alleged abuse of office, money laundering and fraud involving ₦579.6 million and $1.1 million. A bail hearing is set for April 14.

I doubt his court test will seriously affect ADC's convention. Political groups often weather such distractions without losing public support.

It's interesting that his trial resumes just days before the ADC convention is set to kick off, raising questions about timing.

I'm not convinced this court appearance alone will derail the convention; politicians often weather legal storms without losing momentum.

Organizers should consider contingency speakers and transparent updates to maintain trust if legal proceedings affect key participants.
