Nigeria Police Mourns Death of AIG Kanayo Uzuegbu
The Nigeria Police Force is mourning the passing of Assistant Inspector-General Kanayo V. Uzuegbu, who died on Friday, May 30, 2026. A native of Umuaka in Imo State, he joined the force in 1992 and served with distinction for over three decades. He held several key posts, including Area Commander in Owerri and Karu, Director at the Police Staff College in Jos, and Commissioner of Police in Enugu. He also led Sector 8 of the African Union peacekeeping mission in Darfur, Sudan. AIG Uzuegbu held degrees in Philosophy, Strategic Studies, and Peace Studies, and completed professional courses in counterterrorism, human rights, and strategic leadership. The Force extends its deepest condolences to his family and prays for his peaceful rest.
