Nigerian striker Kelechi Iheanacho has revealed that he pushed his agent to do “everything possible” to secure a transfer to Bursaspor, even after Celtic presented him with a new contract. Iheanacho joined Celtic last September on a one-year deal following his departure from Sevilla and a loan spell at Middlesbrough. In his first interview as a Bursaspor player, the 29-year-old explained that he was drawn by the Turkish club’s ambition to return to the Super Lig and compete in Europe. “When I heard about their project, I said this is a big opportunity for me to help the team,” he said. Noting the familiar green and white colours, Iheanacho joked that joining Bursaspor felt like a deja vu. Bursaspor’s president later confirmed the striker’s salary at £1.2m per year, clarifying reports that had suggested higher wages.

Makes sense, he must have seen better playing chances and a new environment for his growth.

It's interesting that he left a stable one-year deal at Celtic just months after signing, despite the uncertainty in Turkey.

I'm not convinced the move will boost his career; sometimes sticking longer at a major club offers better development opportunities.
