Nigerian Football Legend Adegboye Onigbinde Dies at 88
Chief Festus Adegboye Onigbinde, Nigeria’s first indigenous Super Eagles coach, has passed away at the age of 88. The family announced his death in a statement signed by Mrs. Bolade Adesuyi. They celebrated his life as a Modakeke High Chief, football pioneer, community leader, father, husband, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Onigbinde led the Green Eagles to a silver medal at the 1984 Africa Cup of Nations and guided Nigeria to the 2002 FIFA World Cup in South Korea and Japan. His contributions to Nigerian football left an unequalled legacy.
