Foundation Questions Meta’s Appeal Process for Permanently Disabled Accounts

The Rosana Empowerment Foundation has questioned Meta over the permanent disabling of users’ accounts on its platforms without what it describes as a fair, accessible and meaningful appeal process. The group said such account bans can cut people off from years of writing, journalism, professional contacts and public engagement. It cited the experience of a member of its media team as part of the concern. While acknowledging that online platforms need rules, the foundation called for greater transparency, proportionality, due process and accountability in account enforcement.
