Oyo Assembly Chief Whip Denies Role in Alleged Plot Against Governor Makinde
A political row has erupted in Oyo State after the Chief Whip of the House of Assembly publicly denied involvement in a plan to undermine Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration. Hon. Gbenga Oyekola said lawmakers discovered at a meeting that certain individuals were working to pitch the Assembly against the government. He explained that the Olubadan of Ibadanland allegedly offered Speaker Adebo Ogundoyin an APC ticket and financial backing for a federal election, but the Speaker refused. Oyekola added that former First Lady Florence Ajimobi also approached the Speaker with an inducement, which he declined. The Chief Whip stressed he was not part of any such arrangements and distanced himself from the alleged scheme. He reaffirmed his unwavering loyalty to Governor Makinde and pledged his commitment to the peace, unity, and continued progress of Oyo State.
