This is an open thread about my plan to outsmart a Lagos-based scammer I met on TikTok. I matched with her after she hosted a live stream and paid a 7,000 naira matchmaking fee. Within minutes she asked me for money for food and data, which felt like a setup. Rather than cancel, I proposed a real date at a high-end restaurant—fully on me. I know she’ll likely order 50–70k naira worth of food. Now I’m torn. Should I let her splurge and watch her regret it, or cover part of the bill then find an excuse to bail? My date is tomorrow, and I plan to record the whole thing. What do you think?
