Bauchi Police Deploy Officers, Warn Against Vote Buying Ahead of LG Polls
The Bauchi State Police Command says it has strengthened security ahead of the local government council elections scheduled for Monday, August 17. Police Commissioner Sani-Omolori Aliyu said officers have been deployed across the state’s 20 local government areas to protect voters, election officials and voting materials. The command warned politicians, supporters and residents against vote buying, ballot-box snatching, thuggery, voter intimidation and other forms of electoral violence. It said offenders, sponsors and accomplices would be arrested and prosecuted regardless of their status or political affiliation. Residents have been urged to vote peacefully and report suspicious activity to the nearest police station.
