Troops of Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued 48 residents abducted during a terrorist attack on Magami village in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area of Zamfara State. The attack occurred in the early hours of 26 July 2026. Troops reportedly responded to a distress call that terrorists on about 40 motorcycles had invaded the community and were attempting to take residents into the bush. Security personnel engaged the attackers in a firefight, forcing them to abandon the victims and flee. One civilian was killed during the attack, while two others sustained gunshot wounds and were taken to General Hospital, Kaura Namoda, for treatment. Troops have since intensified patrols in the area to prevent further attacks.
