Genevieve Nnaji to Star in BBC Thriller “Wahala” with Cush Jumbo & Adelayo Adedayo
Nollywood icon Genevieve Nnaji joins the female-led cast of Wahala, a new six-part thriller from BBC One and iPlayer. Adapted by BAFTA-nominated writer Theresa Ikoko and produced by Firebird Pictures, the series also features Adelayo Adedayo, Deborah Ayorinde, Cush Jumbo, and Susan Wokoma. Wahala is based on Nikki May’s bestselling debut novel about three Anglo-Nigerian friends—Ronke, Simi, and Boo—whose lives in London are upended by the arrival of a charismatic newcomer, Isobel. As old secrets surface, their bond is tested by ambition, betrayal, and the pull of past traumas. Inspired by the author’s own biracial experiences, the story offers a gripping exploration of race, identity, and friendship. With production now underway, it’s the perfect moment to revisit the novel before the series premieres.
