Zuckerberg’s Yacht Criticised After Cruise Ship Rescues Stranded Boat in Alaska
Mark Zuckerberg’s yacht, Launchpad, has drawn criticism after a cruise ship reportedly diverted to help a 21-foot skiff that had run out of fuel in Southeast Alaska. A passenger on the cruise ship said its captain told travellers that Zuckerberg’s yacht was closer to the stranded boat but did not assist. The cruise ship later reached the skiff in Farragut Bay and towed it to safety. The U.S. Coast Guard said it received a general request for assistance but no distress call from the skiff. A representative for Zuckerberg said neither he nor his family was on board, and that the yacht’s crew only became aware of the Coast Guard contact after help was already underway.
