NDLEA Busts 10,000 Captagon Pills in Kwara; Nationwide Raids Seize Tons of Illegal Drugs
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency intercepted 10,000 Captagon pills and nine packets of Tapentadol during a patrol along Bode Saadu Road in Kwara State on April 21. In subsequent raids, officers seized nearly 156,000 tramadol capsules, thousands of tramadol injections, co-codamol and bromazepam hidden in a trailer. A suspect was arrested at the same patrol point. Separate operations on the Ibadan/Oyo Expressway uncovered a passenger carrying over a kilogram of ingested cocaine destined for Europe, while Edo, Lagos, Bauchi, Ekiti, Cross River and Niger states saw millions of pills, hundreds of kilograms of cannabis and skunk, and components for IEDs seized. NDLEA Chairman Mohamed Buba Marwa praised the operatives for disrupting major trafficking networks and warned that efforts to curb violence-linked stimulants like Captagon will continue.
