Lagos Night Out Turns Sour: Cinema Blackout, ₦150k Entry Fee and ₦600k Drink Minimum
A Lagos woman shares her recent attempt to enjoy an evening out with friends and the surprising hurdles she faced. First, they arrived at a Filmhouse Cinema in Surulere, only to find a total blackout and a non-functioning generator. They then headed to a lounge where they were told a minimum spend of ₦150,000 was required just to get in. Undeterred, they tried a third spot for drinks and food. But a strict policy meant they could only order from the main menu after buying an expensive bottle from a premium list, starting at ₦600,000. Shocked, they decided to call it a night and moved on. Her final thought: “This economy and anyhowness go touch everybody and every business. Lagos, you’re on another level!”
