Consensus Candidacy Threatens APC’s Internal Democracy in Abia, Warns Apostle Alozie

A chieftain of the APC in Abia State, Apostle Chuks Alozie, warns that pushing for a consensus governorship candidate will undermine the party’s democratic principles and alienate grassroots supporters. Speaking to journalists in Abuja, he argued that free and fair primaries test aspirants’ popularity, build trust across wards, and unite all members—while imposed candidacies breed defection, factionalism, and anti-party activities. He urged the Abia State Working Committee to uphold transparent open primaries and reject any attempt to impose candidates, stressing that this process will boost APC’s unity and electoral competitiveness.
