Troops of Operation Hadin Kai arrested a 27-year-old suspect, Ahmad Sheriff, on May 31 during a patrol in the Kukawa-Cross Kauwa area of Kukawa LGA, Borno State. The suspect was travelling with two children when intercepted by soldiers. He told investigators he fled Kangarawa, a known insurgent enclave, after recent airstrikes. Items seized included a smartphone, 43 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, a solar panel, a power bank, sunglasses, a mosquito net, clothing and ₦48,000 in cash. Security authorities say the suspect spent about seven years with Boko Haram/ISWAP.
