Love Not the World: A Christian’s Call to Reject Secular Influences
Anchor Scripture: 1 John 2:15–16 reminds us not to love the world or what is in it. The world appeals to the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life. It draws us away from holiness and the pure love of Christ. As citizens of Heaven, we must reject worldly influences. Our time on earth is a test that determines our eternal home. Secular music genres such as hip-hop, rap, R&B, reggae, rock, heavy metal, and fuji reflect worldly values. Christians should choose worship and gospel music, for example from artists like Nathaniel Bassey and Dunsin Oyekan, to guard their hearts.
