I Like What I Like: Michelle Alozie Reveals Her Top Afrobeats Playlist

I Like What I Like: Michelle Alozie Reveals Her Top Afrobeats Playlist — 1 of 4
1 / 4

Michelle Alozie, the Super Falcons winger and cancer research technician, is no stranger to breaking barriers. In June 2023, she became the first female footballer to grace the cover of Deeds Magazine as part of its Sportlite series. In a fresh March 2026 interview with Deeds Magazine, the 28-year-old opened up about her pre-match playlist. She named Young Jonn, Burna Boy and Ayra Starr as her top three, leaving out icons like Wizkid and Davido. “Those three artists are always on my playlist, no matter the team,” she declared. She also shared her love for the amapiano stars UValo and Nakupenda, along with Llona and Fola. Born in the US to Nigerian parents, Alozie embraces her dual identity. “Being Nigerian American just defines me,” she said. From pioneering magazine covers to dropping playlist truth bombs, she continues to play by her own rules.

Michelle Alozie blends football and lab work while curating Afrobeats. Which tracks do you think define her pioneering spirit on and off the pitch?

Totally. Her playlist really captures that same determination she shows in every match and experiment.

Not convinced those popular tracks truly reflect her dual passion on the field and in the lab.

Interesting that a footballer and cancer research technician chooses Afrobeats for her playlist. I'd expect something more reflective of her dual career intensity.

Her playlist sounds upbeat, but e no dey reflect her disciplined routine on the pitch and in the lab. Afrobeats alone feels too casual.

If you want to match her energy, try alternating high tempo Afrobeats tracks with instrumental pieces for focus during training or lab sessions.
