Esther Okoronkwo Back in Training, Eyes Comeback After Injury
Esther Okoronkwo has returned to full training after recovering from a meniscus tear and hamstring damage she suffered while playing for AFC Toronto. She left the pitch in the 39th minute of the clash with Halifax and missed their last five league matches. The Super Falcons forward confirmed her fitness on social media, writing “Back on my feet, mission enroute” alongside photos of her in action at training. She is expected to make her return when AFC Toronto takes on Montreal Roses at York Lions Stadium this Saturday. Okoronkwo’s comeback is a timely boost for Nigeria ahead of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations. She was one of the standout performers at WAFCON 2024, scoring twice and providing six assists as the Super Falcons secured their 10th continental title.
