Rapper Illbliss Apologises for ‘Igbos Bought All Lagos Land’ Comment

In a recent tweet, Illbliss praised the Igbo community’s role in Lagos’s commercial growth. He was met with hostile replies urging him to leave for his “erosion-filled land,” and he fired back: “we bought all your land and will resell to you.” He has now issued an apology for that harsh remark, saying he never meant to disrespect Lagos. He thanked the state for embracing Igbo art, business, and culture over the years. Lagos is home to many, he said, and he will always honour that relationship.

What do you think motivated Illbliss's decision to apologise for that 'Igbos bought all Lagos land' comment?

True, maybe he felt pressure from fans and wanted to make amends quickly.

It's interesting how praising Igbo contributions to Lagos growth suddenly shifted into hostile land ownership debates.

Offering an apology after stoking regional tensions feels insufficient when hurtful remarks about Igbos and Lagos land already spread.

Perhaps public figures should think twice about land and community discussions before posting remarks that risk inflaming longstanding divides.
