Why We’re All So Angry in Relationships and What We’re Really Feeling

Relationships in Nigeria have become emotionally exhausting for both men and women. We talk about each other like enemies, but underneath the anger most of us are simply tired. Men face constant pressure to provide while battling high rent, expensive fuel, traffic and unstable jobs. Society still says “be a man,” yet many are mentally collapsing in silence. Women juggle work, family, chores and childcare. They worry about being used, cheated on or abandoned. Many carry the trauma of watching parents suffer in unhappy marriages. Modern dating often repeats these cycles of trauma. We guard our hearts, keep score and enter partnerships already on the defensive. Real love should feel like “you and me versus life.” Honest communication, mutual support and peace—not gender wars—are what truly matter.

Setting aside a weekly downtime without talk of bills or rent might help partners settle deeper frustrations before they boil over.
