Asante Kotoko Unveil Eric Tinkler as New Head Coach for 2026/27 Season

Asante Kotoko have announced Eric Tinkler as their new head coach ahead of the 2026/27 campaign. He joins the Porcupine Warriors with over 30 years of experience in elite football as both player and manager. Tinkler has led some of South Africa’s biggest clubs, including Orlando Pirates and SuperSport United. He guided Pirates to a CAF Champions League final and SuperSport United to the Confederation Cup final, while lifting MTN8 and Telkom Knockout trophies. As a player, he captained South Africa, earning 48 caps and featuring at the 1998 FIFA World Cup. He was part of the 1996 Africa Cup of Nations–winning squad and enjoyed spells with Barnsley, Cagliari and Vitoria de Setubal. Club chairman James Osei Brown praised Tinkler’s winning mentality and track record in player development. Tinkler said he is honoured to lead one of Africa’s most storied football institutions.
