Super Eagles Defender Igoh Ogbu Provides ₦2M for Teammate’s Crucial Knee Surgery
Super Eagles centre-back Igoh Ogbu has donated two million naira to support fellow Nigerian footballer Abraham Somtochukwu’s urgent knee operation. Somtochukwu had suffered a serious ACL and meniscus injury earlier this year, leaving him unable to play and jeopardising his career. Despite raising 1.5 million naira from family, friends and online supporters, he was still 2 million naira short of the 3.5 million naira target. After seeing a social media appeal, Ogbu stepped in on 20 March 2026 to complete the fundraising goal. Somtochukwu had also lost trial opportunities abroad while awaiting surgery. With Ogbu’s contribution, he is now on the verge of getting the treatment he needs to return to the pitch.
