IGP Disu Urges Stronger Community Partnerships to Combat Modern Security Threats
At the Rotary/Rotaract District Joint DISCON AKUGBE’26 event, Inspector-General Olatunji Disu called for closer collaboration between security agencies, community groups and citizens to tackle evolving threats. He warned that challenges now go beyond conventional crimes to include terrorism, cybercrime, organized networks, cultism, misinformation and economic sabotage. Disu stressed that policing must be intelligence-led and technology-driven to stay ahead of increasingly sophisticated criminals. The police boss outlined ongoing reforms in digital investigations, inter-agency cooperation, operational accountability and professionalism. He said public trust, integrity and active community engagement remain central to sustainable security. Disu praised Rotary International and Rotaract for their work in education, youth empowerment and peacebuilding. He urged all Nigerians to join hands with the Nigeria Police Force to safeguard stability and drive sustainable national development.
