Six Suspected ISWAP Fighters and Relatives Surrender to Troops in Gwoza, Borno
Six individuals linked to the Islamic State West Africa Province and their family members have surrendered to soldiers of 192 Battalion, Sector 1, Operation Hadin Kai in Gwoza Local Government Area, Borno State. According to a statement from the North-East Joint Task Force’s Acting Information Officer, the group escaped terrorist enclaves in the Mandara Mountains before handing themselves over to troops. Troops also rescued two abductees in Askira/Uba LGA on July 7, 2026. During that operation, they recovered ₦1.2 million and supplies believed to have supported insurgent activities.
